Hi, I’m Courtney
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I help people regulate thoughts and emotions to regain control of their lives. My method of counseling is guided by Cognitive Behavioral Approach, Attachment Perspective, and Emotion Focused Therapy. You can learn more about each of these techniques below.
Outside of my professional career, I design and renovate homes with my husband, Michael. I like to enjoy our city by attending Charlotte FC games and exploring the local food scene. Running is also a big part of my routine, as well as traveling when my schedule allows for it!
My approach
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is defined as identifying maladaptive thought patterns, emotional responses and behaviors. Through therapy, you are able to substitute this pattern or dance with a new one. These new processes will contain constructive thought patterns and awareness around negative stuck points.
Attachment Perspective is formed directly from Attachment Theory. This theory is defined as the human need to form and maintain close emotional bonds. This perspective helps us understand how we all long to maintain close relationships with our caregivers, partners, and friends.
Emotion Focused Therapy is defined by going beneath the surface of every day issues that seem to spin up relationships in our lives. This therapy slows down the patterns of distress we fall into, and gets us to the root of the emotional despair. Over time, we are able to link the fact that our underlying emotions are causing some of our unwanted behaviors.
